Central To Your World: The Campaign for the St. Louis Public Library, made our library even greater by revitalizing the heart of the system - the magnificent Central Library - for the 21st century user.
The Central Library Project cost a total of $70 million, with $50 million financed from the proceeds of bonds issued by the St. Louis Municipal Library District and $20 million in philanthropic support raised by St. Louis Public Library Foundation. Led by Alison Nichols Ferring and Thomas F. Schlafly, the Central To Your World campaign was the largest philanthropic campaign ever undertaken on behalf of St. Louis Public Library.
A complete modernization and restoration of this historic landmark began in mid 2010 with Central Library reopening to the public on December 9, 2012.
MISSION
The mission of the St. Louis Public Library Foundation is to support the Library’s programs and services through advocacy and fundraising and to build relationships with others who share a passion for the Library’s work.
ABOUT
St. Louis Public Library Foundation is an independent nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization, registered with the IRS and State of Missouri. SLPL Foundation is tasked with raising private sector support for St. Louis Public Library, ensuring that SLPL can not only meet the needs of its community, but grow and adapt to remain a vital resource in an ever-changing St. Louis.
All donations to the Foundation are fully tax-deductible as allowed by law.
