Custodial history: The collection was purchased by Debbie Campbell in 2011 from a theatre professor (currently teaching at Millikin University in Decatur, IL) named Alex Miller. The letters were given to him more than 20 years ago by a nun (name unknown) in Paola, Kansas. Debbie bought them from Alex because she was interested in stamps, but upon looking at them, thought the radio history was what really made the collection valuable.

Conservation notes: All items unfolded in order to lay flat acid-free folders. Envelopes paper clipped to corresponding letters.
Scope and Content: The collection contains sixteen (16) “First Issue” letters and seventeen (17) “First Issue” envelopes. The “First Day” letters are addressed to H.L. Freund from C. L. (Chet) Thomas and pertain to programming and advertising possibilities at KXOK. The letters date from January 1953 to February 1955.
Arrangement:  Collection organized into folders by date.
Restrictions:  Unrestricted. Permission required to reproduce images.
Remarks: Envelope dated October 13, 1953 did not come with corresponding letter.
