Custodial history: The scrapbook was given to RBSC in 2012 upon reopening of Central Library. It had been donated by the Parker Family to the St. Louis Public Library Foundation sometime during the two years that Central Library was closed for renovation.

Conservation notes: Scrapbook was very fragile with many ripped and disbound pages. Entire scrapbook was disbound, ephemera removed when possible, and repairs made to documents with document repair tape. Photocopies of the newspaper articles and complete scrapbook pages were made.
Scope and Content: The collection contains newspaper clippings, correspondence, invitations, and ephemera related to Mr. Parker’s military service during the Civil War. Strong focus on Admiral George Dewey and the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States.
Arrangement: Collection organized alphabetically by topic.
Restrictions: Collection open for research.
Remarks: Some fragile items.
