Join SLPL's 2022 Adult Reading Challenge. Each month, complete the two reading challenges listed below to advance to the next month. Sign up online or stop by any location to pick up a reading log to track your progress. Once completed, return your reading log to any SLPL location.

Start A New Chapter:

Challenge 1: New year, new series
Challenge 2: MLK - I have a dream, what is yours? Read a  book on peace, justice or following your dream.


Challenge 3: Black History Month - Read a book by a Black author
Challenge 4: Read a romance


Challenge 5: Women’s History Month - Read a book by a  female author
Challenge 6: Books in Translation - Celebrate Foreign  Language Month! Read a book translated from a foreign  language.


Challenge 7: National Poetry Month - Read a book of poetry
Challenge 8: Celebrate National Library Week! Read a  book about libraries and librarians.


Challenge 9: Moms - Read about the good, the bad and  the funny
Challenge 10: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage  Month - Read a book by an Asian or Pacific Islander author

Give Back To Reading:

Challenge 11: Read with PRIDE. Read a book by an  LGBT+ author.
Challenge 12: Hit the Road - Read about another state, country, city or traveling


Challenge 13: Read a teen novel
Challenge 14: Read a book with a red, white or blue cover


Challenge 15: Reread a book you had to read in high school
Challenge 16: Read a book you should have read in high  school

Challenge 17: Read a banned book.
Challenge 18: Hispanic Heritage Month - Read a book by a  Latinx author.


Challenge 19: Read a book that will keep you up at night.
Challenge 20: Read a book about the unknown and the  unsolved.


Challenge 21: NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)  Read a book about authors and writing.
Challenge 22: Native American Heritage Month - Read a  book by a Native American author.


Challenge 23: Read about holidays around the world.

Every adult reader who finishes each month’s challenge will be entered into a random drawing for one of these prizes:
January: SLPL coffee mug
February: SLPL journal
March: Advanced Reader’s Copy of an upcoming book
April: SLPL notecards
May: SLPL tote bag
June: Advanced Reader’s Copy of an upcoming book
July: Cube of SLPL post-it notes/scratch pads/pencil case
August: Steedman notecards
September: Numbered Firecracker Press poster
of Central Library
October: Stained glass poster of Central Library
November: SLPL ornament
December: Advanced Reader’s Copy of an upcoming book

January-May: Every adult reader who finished all the challenges will be invited to a cookie party/book swap on June 18 at Kingshighway.
June-August: For every adult reader who finished all the challenges, SLPL will give a child a book for their home library.
September-December: Every adult reader who finished all the challenges will be invited to a private tour of Central Library. Date and time to be determined.
