Conservation notes: Both scrapbooks are very fragile. Placed into archival boxes with spacer board for added support.  
Scope and Content:

The collection contains two scrapbooks of clippings.  Although the date of many of the clippings is unknown, the dated material covers the years 1926, 1929-1932 with the bulk of the material ranging from 1929-1930. 

 
Sam Muchnick (1905-1998) joined the St. Louis Times as a sports writer in 1926.  He covered high school basketball, football, wrestling and college baseball and soccer.  His wrestling columns were titled, “In The Ring with Sam Muchnick”.  By 1948, he began a career as a professional wrestling promoter.  He created “Wrestling at the Chase” and this was a televised program in St. Louis on Sunday evenings.  Muchnick was a member of the Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis.  He retired in 1982.
