Excel Adult High School is a nationally accredited online high school diploma program available through the St Louis Public Library. A limited number of scholarships are available to qualifying adult applicants. All classes are online and self-paced.

Adults, who are at least 25 years old, residents of St Louis City, who have completed at least 8th grade and who wish to earn their high school diploma.

Applicants must have a valid St Louis Public Library card or be willing to apply for one.

No, this is not a GED or HiSET program. Graduates will earn a high school diploma from Excel. It is a state-recognized, accredited high school diploma that is accepted by employers, colleges and the military.

Students will be given up to 24 months to earn their diploma, which will consist of 21.5 credits. Students who are accepted into the program may transfer up to 16 credits earned from their former high schools. Excel Adult High School also accepts successfully passed portions of the GED and HiSET.

Depending on how many credits are transferred, the program can be completed in as few as three to six months. The average time to complete it is 12 months. On average, it takes about three to six months for adult students to complete a grade level.

A successful online learner is a motivated self-starter and committed to the success of their education. All coursework is web-based with classroom access 24/7.

A desktop computer or laptop is required in Excel Adult High School. Smart devices can be used for some schoolwork, but many assignments and all final exams must be taken using a computer or laptop. St Louis Public Library computers can be reserved to work on the courses.

Yes, Excel Adult High School has English language learner tools built into each course that provide side-by-side translation to many major languages, as well as an audio read to help students who need help with comprehension.

Yes, Excel Adult High School offers adult students up to seven ACE (American Council on Education) courses, which equals 21 college credits. Students can take an ACE course and receive both high school and college credit. To learn more about this, students who qualify for a Library scholarship and enroll in Excel can learn more from their academic advisors.
