Teen Volunteer


Volunteering at the St. Louis Public Library is an opportunity for teens to volunteer, learn, research and contribute to the programing at the St. Louis Public Library. The Teen Volunteer is responsible for assisting youth programming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with youth programs (video game tournaments, S.T.E.A.M programs, etc.)

  • Helps organize youth programming materials. 

  • Assists with updating and creating bulletin boards and/or book displays.

  • Prepares craft materials.

  • Provides impromptu youth programs under the direction of Youth Services Provider that would interest children and teens.

  • Promotes youth programming to peers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word).

  • BiblioCommons catalog software

  • Familiarity with video game systems.


  • Ability to build and maintain rapport with youth.


  • 2 to 20 hours a week as needed; Mondays –Thursdays, late afternoons, alternating Fridays and Saturdays.

Additional Information

  • Will provide recommendation upon completion of year

  • Will fulfill school requirements of volunteer hours
