The NEST Exhibit

Nest Event BannerHave you seen it?

A mysterious creature is coming to Central Library, 1301 Olive Street.

The NEST is an art installation and open-ended play experience that explores a giant mythical creature. Through storytelling and art-making, participants build the creature’s shelter.

The NEST is FREE, and open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  1. What is the NEST? The NEST is an interactive makerspace for young and the young-at-heart to explore and create together.
  2. What can you expect from the NEST? Artist facilitators guide participants through a three dimensional NEST structure and lead mixed media activities and art projects, including painting, movement, map-making and theatre games. There is something for everyone.
  3. What is the benefit of the NEST? The NEST uses STEAM skills (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) to explore the idea that a mythical creature is coming to St. Louis and we need to build this habitat for it. The exhibit is community-led and built by participants. You and your family can help build this environment and then see your work on display in the exhibit.
  4. Who is the NEST for? Anyone who is curious and likes to invent and explore, but if you are a tired caregiver, you can also relax and watch your little ones have a great time with our amazing artist facilitators.
