St. Louis Public Library’s October’s Authors @ Your Library presents Richard Garey, Angela Barnes, Ridley Pearson, Bob Brody, Dennis Minner and Another Author Shout Out!

Actor and Mark Twain impersonator Richard Garey will discuss and read from his new book, “Hannibal at the Door” on October 5 at 7 p.m. at Central Library, 1301 Olive Street.

Garey interprets and brings to life those who lived and died in the days of Twain with such vitality and color it is as if those early citizens of Hannibal, Mo., wrote the book themselves.

In honor of National Disability Awareness Month, author Angela Barnes will discuss the inspirational life of her mother, Janet Barnes, the longest living quadriplegic, on October 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Machacek Library, 6424 Scanlan Ave.

The book, “90-pound Heavyweight: The Life and Triumph of Janet Barnes,” is a collection of diaries, letters, poetry and interviews.

Bestselling author Ridley Pearson will discuss his new novel, “Lock and Key: The Downward Spiral” on October 17 at 7 p.m. at Schlafly Library, 225 N. Euclid Ave.

The new book picks up where “The Initiation” left off, in the midst of a highly original and satisfying take on the Sherlock Holmes series.

Books available for purchased from Left Bank Books. This event is free and open to the public, but proof of book purchase from Left Bank Books will be required to enter the signing line.

Bob Brody will discuss his book, “Playing Catch with Strangers: A Family Guy (Reluctantly) Comes of Age” on October 25 at 7 p.m. at Schlafly Library, 225 N. Euclid Ave.

The book chronicles his upbringing with deaf parents, getting stabbed in the chest five weeks after moving into his first apartment and almost blowing his first date with his future wife thanks to a drunken remark.

Join us for “Second Chances,” an enlightening presentation by photographer Dennis Minner on October 26 at 7 p.m. at Central Library, 1301 Olive Street.

Minner is well-known for his body of work which focuses on second chances and redemption.
