SLPL and Operation Food Search provided summer lunch to area children

St. Louis Public Library and Operation Food Search partnered together this summer to provide free lunches to area children. Together, SLPL and OFS provided 4,043 lunches from June through August. Meals were provided for kids during the lunch hour, every weekday at five SLPL locations.

According to Operation Food Search, One in four children in the St. Louis bi-state area goes to bed each night hungry. Many of those kids receive their only full, daily meal from school. That is why the summer months are crucial in helping to end childhood hunger.

SLPL’s mission is to provide learning resources and information services that support and improve individual, family and community life through a variety of services, programs and initiatives. Partnering with OFS is one way the Library continues its commitment to this mission.
