The St. Louis Public Library’s Authors @ Your Library welcomes Margaret Crane and Barbara Ballinger to discuss and sign their book, “Suddenly Single After 50: The Girlfriend’s Guide to Navigating Loss, Restoring Hope, and Rebuilding Your Life” on December 1 from 6-8 p.m. at Schlafly, 225 North Euclid, Ave.
A stressful, bitter divorce. A prolonged, painful death of a beloved husband. And suddenly, after age 50, you’re on your own again. Being suddenly single after age 50 can be terrifying, but it can also be liberating.
Told with authenticity, wit, compassion and honesty, Barbara and Margaret reveal the pain, anger, self-pity, and, sometimes, guilt that initially colored their partner-less worlds. They recount how they ultimately came to grips with the fact that, after decades of togetherness, building a family, sharing work lives, being a romantic partner and spouse, they were single.
“Suddenly Single After 50” addresses what life is like, what life can be like, for those who find themselves without their partners after a long time being part of a pair.
