In this episode of Your Library Podcast, we talk to Firecracker Press founder Eric Woods about his residency at Central Library as part of the Print to Pixels Exhibition this spring. The exhibition, which filled the Great Hall from March through June, celebrated print communications and featured artifacts ranging from an ancient hieroglyphic scroll to a 3D printer. Firecracker Press spent five weeks operating a fully-functional letterpress shop out of a corner of the Great Hall, presenting free workshops, and restoring a massive press they donated to the Library. Eric takes us behind the scenes, shows us how the presses work, and talks about Firecracker Press' embrace of old and new technologies from Print to Pixels.
We also meet the Northmoor Book club, who have been meeting regularly for 40 years. We tag along with them on a field trip to the Library's Special Collections and an eclectic presentation by librarian Renee Jones.
Technology Director Jon Drakesmith returns for another Tech Talk segment about the Library's new color copiers.
Finally, Chief Operating Officer Justin Struttmann tells us about The Birds and the Bees, a new exhibition about pollinators on display in the Great Hall through August 4th.
