Navy diaries generally provide a day-to-day record of operational activities and may record administrative activities as well. Some diaries provide fairly detailed accounts, while others contain only minimal information. Diaries may include action reports, war damage reports, and/or personal accounts.

Note: Diaries often mention soldiers and sailors by name (meaning rank and surname only—given name not provided). Photos or maps were not included as part of any diaries I examined.
