This record collection in Fold3.com consists of unit diaries of various Navy and Marine Corps organizations. Marine Corps diaries are generally from aviation units such as fighter squadrons, and may provide details about training activities and/or combat operations.
Navy diaries generally provide a day-to-day record of operational activities and may record administrative activities as well. Some diaries provide fairly detailed accounts, while others contain only minimal information. Diaries may include action reports, war damage reports, and/or personal accounts.
Note: Diaries often mention soldiers and sailors by name (meaning rank and surname only—given name not provided). Photos or maps were not included as part of any diaries I examined.
