The Millennium File

The Millennium File is a database available in Ancestry Library Edition (ALE) that was created by the Institute of Family Research to track the records of its clients and the results of its professional research. It contains more than 880,000 linked family records from places including colonial America, the British Isles, Switzerland, and Germany. Many of these lineages extend back to European nobility and royalty.

A good way to have success in using this database is identify at least one Gateway Ancestor (an early American immigrant with proven ties to British or European nobility or royalty). There are approximately 300 Gateway Ancestors in this database. Source information is also provided for each lineage, making it possible to verify the accuracy of that lineage.

You can search for persons with a particular surname, or search for a particular individual.

You may use ALE at Central Library or any of our branches.
