Staff Pick: King’s Cage

Alone, powerless, and imprisoned by the boy she once believed she loved –  Mare Barrow hits her lowest point at the opening of King’s Cage, as she finds herself with no allies at the Silver court and with her own ability to create lightning taken away from her. The story follows Mare’s raw experience as a prisoner and political pawn piece, the rebellious Scarlet Guard’s efforts to take down a system where blood means power, and the betrayals of a Silver system in which ability is everything.

Third in the four-part Red Queen series, Aveyard’s book splits its time between the voices of three women – Mare, Evangeline, and Cameron – as war rages, relationships deepen, and loyalties are questioned until the very last page.
