Resume Ready

Did you know that on the first Wednesday of the month, Baden Library hosts "Resume Ready?

This program encourages teens and young adults to work one-on-one with a staff member to craft their first resume or tune up an existing one. It’s helpful to have a second pair of eyes to read and edit your resume, and help it stand out to a future employer.

What is a resume? A resume is a one page document that summarizes a job seeker's value to employers.

Why do you need one? Most job applications require one. Employers need to know what skills and experience you'd be bringing with you if hired.

Where do you start? Getting started is sometimes the hardest part. That's where "Resume Ready" comes in handy. The program offers a detailed handout called "The Toolbox" that includes resume outlines, examples, and tips from books available in SLPL's catalog. You can also use the time to work on and receive assistance with your cover letter.

Feel free to bring your own laptop, or use your Library card to access a public computer.
