Motion Picture Studio Directories, 1919 and 1921

This record collection in Ancestry Library Edition (Ancestry LE) consists of two directories of actors, directors, producers, and technicians active in the motion picture industry during the years 1919 and 1921. Each directory includes a biographical section with information about listed individuals:

Birth date and place
Educational history
Physical description (actors)
Skills description (technicians)
Membership in clubs, unions, or other organizations
Film roles / film credits

Some entries also include residential addresses, and b & w portraits are included for some persons. Each directory has an alphabetical index.

The directories are divided into sections:

Directors & assistant directors
Scenario editors & writers
Studio managers
Publicity men
Laboratory & property men
Film cutters

These directories include forgotten players and technicians, as well as film immortals like Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Rudolph Valentino, and Gloria Swanson, and legendary directors such as Cecil B. DeMille and D.W. Griffith. Whether an ancestor worked in the early motion picture industry, or you are merely a devotee of the silent movie era, this record collection will prove of great interest.
