Missouri State Veterans Cemeteries

I’m sure many of you are aware that the federal government maintains national cemeteries where veterans and their spouses may be buried at government expense. You may not know, however, that many states (Missouri included) maintain veteran cemeteries for their own veterans.

The five Missouri State Veterans Cemeteries are located at:

    Bloomfield (Stoddard County)
    Ft. Leonard Wood (Pulaski County)
    Higginsville (Lafayette County)
    Jacksonville (Randolph County)
    Springfield (Greene County)

You can search for persons buried in these cemeteries using this record collection in Ancestry Library Edition (Ancestry LE):

U.S., Find A Grave Index, 1600s-Current

You can search for specific individuals, or you can search for all burials in a particular cemetery:

SEARCH—KEYWORD Missouri Veterans (Exact) CEMETERY Higginsville (Exact)

Search results provide:

You can use Ancestry LE at Central Library or any of our branches.
