Join us for the SLPL’s Steedman Architectural Library and the Society of Architectural Historians St. Louis Chapter talk on Tuesday, October 22, in the Training Room of Central Library at 6:30 p.m. A talk on Hare & Hare: Landscape Architects and City Planners of Kansas City will be given by Cydney Millstein, Architectural Historian, Author, and Founder/Principal of Architectural & Historical Research, LLC and Carol Grove, Professor, Department of Art, University of Missouri-Columbia. We do have Carol Grove's book in our collection, Hare & Hare, Landscape Architects and City Planners.
Founded in 1910 by Sidney J. Hare and his son S. Herbert Hare, Hare & Hare completed a number of very significant projects in Kansas City. In both their public and private projects, their firm was one of several who established the profession of landscape architects in the United States. Ranging from parks and cemeteries to large-scale planning projects, their work includes the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City and the Park and Boulevard system and master plan for the Country Club District in Kansas City.
Please join us for a fantastic program on this significant firm. Prior to the talk, the Steedman Architectural will be open for viewing with recent acquisitions on display.
