The Social Sciences room at Central Library is home to books on family (#Dewey* 306.85), communication (153.6) and interpersonal relations (158.2), politics (320.973), and gratitude (179.9) and we gathered some of those together for a Thanksgiving prep book display (click here for the related list in our catalog). We even have books about Native Americans (323.1197) and on Turkey (OK, it's the country Turkey - 330.9 - but we exercised some librarian license & included them anyway).
We hope that you enjoy your holiday - and while we are closed on Thursday, St. Louis Public Library will be open on Friday so consider visiting Central or your local SLPL branch as an economical and educational alternative Black Friday activity.
Here are some of our featured titles:
- How to Hug A Porcupine
- Talking Politics?
- Spirituality of Gratitude
- The Giving Way to Happiness
- How to Talk So Teens Will Listen & Listen So Teens Will Talk
- Peaceable Kingdom Lost
* Note - we have provided #Dewey numbers to assist our patrons with browsing our shelves in search of a serendipitous find, but please note that the Dewey Decimal System is a somewhat capricious critter and just because you find a subject in one place doesn't mean you won't find similar topics somewhere else in the Library. When in doubt, or looking for a particular title or author, use the catalog at slpl.org.
