Dysfunction and Turkey

There’s something about Turkey Day that makes one think of how much they dislike that one Aunt...you're the one. Let’s face it, all year round, you avoid contact with most of the people in your family tree in order to brace yourself for the insanity that is Thanksgiving Day. It’s almost the worst-kept secret in America that Thanksgiving is simultaneously the worst and the most looked forward to of all the national holidays, and that may be because that same Aunt you can’t stand also makes amazing mashed potatoes.

This time around many are making their holiday plans and getting ready to make the traditional trek to the old homestead (or just to the store) to celebrate this day. So why not bring a little reading? It will give you an excuse to escape for maybe an hour, and you can connect with the characters within--stories of fellow dysfunctional families, just like yours! Or maybe even worse. How about a crazy murder mystery, where the residents of Tinker's Cove are in the midst of Thanksgiving festivities when someone adds murder to the menu? At least you aren’t dead, right?

Pick up a few goodies from our display next time you visit the Center for the Reader and be sure to feast your eyes on our Dysfunction and Turkey list.
