Business development assistance

Most inventors and entrepreneurs want to profit from their ideas.  That's the point of protecting them with patents and trademarks.  But how do you go from ideas to cold, hard cash?

One source of information is the Goldsmith Technology Commercialization Model, from the College of Business Administration's Nebraska Business Development Center at the University of Nebraska Omaha. From concept to development to growth, the GTCM provides step by step guidance through the process of bringing an idea to market.  Each step has a page with a definition, objective, and product for that step, as well as activities to complete and key questions to guide decisions.  The first step includes links to resources on intellectual property, primarily from the US Patent & Trademark Office.

The NBDC provides consulting assistance to small businesses in Nebraska, but their well-organized model of the process of commercializing technology is available freely to all.
