Text a librarian

Texting a question is easy:

  1. How can I text a question to a librarian?
    To send us a question via text messaging from your cell phone:
    Text 66746 and start your first message with the keyword askslpl followed by a space. Type your question and press "Send." You can save 66746 in your contacts as askslpl.
         Example: askslpl What time does the Carpenter branch close today?

  2. Do I need to include askslpl each time I ask a question?
    No. You only need to include askslpl the first time you send us a question.
         Example: Which branch has the book To Kill a Mockingbird?

  3. What types of questions should I ask using Text a librarian?
    The service is good for asking quick, simple questions that can be answered in short responses. For more involved reference questions, please call or email us.

  4. How long does it take to get a response?
    During our Hours of Operation, we will try to respond to your question within two hours. Questions received after hours or on holidays will receive an automated response and will be answered when service hours resume.
    Hours of Operation:

    Monday – Thursday:

    9:30am – 8:30pm

    Friday – Saturday:

    9:30am – 5:30pm


    1:00pm – 4:30pm
