Download at home – Enjoy anywhere!

GetItNow, St. Louis Public Library’s latest service, allows you to choose from hundreds of documentaries and classic feature films on video as well as a collection of audio book bestsellers.

Without leaving home and within minutes, you’ll be viewing a video of your choice or listening to a new bestseller. 

There is no waiting -- great titles are available 24/7.

Here is what you need to get started:

  • Your Know Better card
  • A home computer (Contractual obligations prohibit titles from being downloaded at the Library)
  • Mobile device (optional)
  • Access to the Internet
  • An easily downloadable media console (software) from slpl.org that allows titles to be downloaded to home computers and mobile devices

GetItNow is easy. On your home computer, use the GetItNow link from the "Library" section on slpl.org. Select a title of interest, then use your Know Better card to check the title out and download it to your home computer. If you are a first-time user, click on the “First-time user” link to download the media console. With the downloaded title on your home computer it can be enjoyed until the checkout period ends. Fines won’t be necessary--when the checkout period expires, the title will no longer be accessible.

And there’s more.  If you have a PocketPC, Smartphone, or other mobile device compatible with Digital Rights Management (iPods are not possible at this time), you can transfer titles from your home computer to your mobile device.  Some titles may also be burned to CD-ROM.
