St. Louis Public Library Presents Pageturners, the adult reading club for summer 2011

St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library kickoffs its annual reading club for adult and high school readers, Pageturners, on Monday, May 2, and continues through Saturday, August 6.  You can join at any one of the 15 St. Louis Public Library locations. This year’s theme, “Novel Destinations,” is inspired by the summer travel season.  If you plan a trip, you can check out a book or magazine from our collection, or you can download an eBook or Audiobook from our web site to read during your travels.  If you don’t plan to leave St. Louis this summer, pick up titles set in other locations and travel in your imagination.

To take part in Pageturners, readers should register only ONCE at any Library location. They’ll receive a reading log to keep track of the books, magazines, or audio books that they complete. Each person who signs up and completes the program by reading or listening to 10 books will receive a Novel Destinations tote bag.  Those who complete the club also have the chance to win two tickets to a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game and are entered into a drawing to win a laptop computer! Participants must be high school age or older and current valid St. Louis Public Library cardholders. No prizes will be awarded after August 6.

Those looking for great ideas for something new to read should visit the “Book Lovers” section of our website, slpl.org. There they’ll find fiction, mystery, fantasy, science fiction, romance, graphic novels, literary fiction, and non-fiction titles to try.  If you use our GetItNow service to download eBooks or audiobooks, look for the special Novel Destinations category.  This will give you titles set in all sorts of locations so you can travel in your mind!

Major funding and support for Pageturners is provided by the St. Louis Cardinals.

For more information, visit any Library location, the Library’s website at slpl.org, or call 314-539-0340.
