St. Louis, MO ... The St. Louis Public Library presents a unique opportunity to explore the works of Wallace Terry. The program, African Americans in Vietnam: An Interactive Audio Presentation and Book Discussion Based on the Work and Research of Wallace Terry, will be held at the Julia Davis Branch Library, 4415 Natural Bridge Avenue, on November 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. Join a distinguished group of veterans to examine the experiences of African-American soldiers in Vietnam. The featured works are:
* Bloods: An Oral History of the Vietnam War by Black Veterans is Wallace Terry’s national bestseller that examines Vietnam from the black soldiers’ point of view. The book puts the Vietnam experience into historical, cultural, and political perspective.
* The audio recording Guess Who’s Coming Home: Black Fighting Men Recorded Live in Vietnam is the first recorded history of black soldiers in any war. For two years, Terry traveled Vietnam interviewing black soldiers—infantry as well as officers—for both Time magazine and this recording.
