St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library is excited to announce the return of its popular NOT SO QUIET! Concert Series. The series will spice up springtime evenings outdoors at an all-new location—Old Post Office Plaza at the corner of 9th and Locust Streets in the heart of vibrant downtown St. Louis. Join us after work every Thursday in May from 5-6:30 p.m. for some of the most diverse and popular musical acts in the region. All concerts are FREE and open to the public. No tickets required.
The NOT SO QUIET! Concert Series kicks off on May 7 with classical music performed by the Crusell Quartet. The group features Elsie Parker on clarinet, Alison Rolf on violin, Tova Braiberg on viola, and Natasha on cello. Enjoy the music of Crusell, Kokai, and Bairach!On May 14, world-class trumpet player and mesmerizing performers Dawn Weber & the Electro Funk Ensemble will set downtown ablaze with an explosive, high-energy blend of jazz, Latin, and funk grooves with electronic elements to create great dance music. The St. Louis-based artist’s background includes extensive training in both classical trumpet and flugelhorn. Weber starred in the groups Vargas Swing, Urban Jazz Naturals, and Mo and Dawn (The Remix Project) and is now leading her own bands.
Raven Moon rises on May 21 to present exceptional acoustic music with an American pulse. They have been delighting their audiences with everything from Blues, Celtic, Cajun, Country, Jazz, to Rock & Roll for over a decade. Winner of the Riverfront Times “Best of St. Louis 2007" and winner of Java Journal’s "2008 TOP PICKS" for St. Louis. Christine Peick’s vocals are pure shining gold, meshing perfectly with the beautiful harmonies and intricate solos provided by band members Gen Obata and John Higgins and anchored by bassist John Stephens.
The popular Chicago-based band Blink wraps up the spring edition of the NOT SO QUIET! Concert Series on May 28. Blink offers up exceptional atmospheric jazzy sounds. Blink consists of bassist Jeff Greene, saxophonist Greg Ward, guitarist Dave Miller, and drummer Quin Kirchner.
