NOT SO QUIET! Concert Series Continues

St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library and KDHX 88.1 FM are excited to announce that the popular NOT SO QUIET concert series will continue through January 2009. The series takes place at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of each month (except for September) at Central Library, 1301 Olive Street. The series features some of the most diverse and popular musical acts in the St. Louis region. All concerts are FREE and open to the public. No tickets required. Seating is first-come, first-served. Here is the upcoming lineup:

August 4: John Hartmann Group. This quartet features Hartmann on guitar, Aaron Giraudo on sax, Max Kelly on bass, and James Starrett on drums. They are one of the most in-demand jazz bands in the area. They bring a contemporary approach to jazz while maintaining maturity and respect for the timeless sounds of the genre.

September 8 (closed September 1 for Labor Day): The ContinuOhm. Audra Gandy and the ContinuOhm will make you melt during the last hot days of summer with their sultry nu-jazz and neo-soul sounds.

October 6: Strawfoot. Hear cautionary tales told through music by a spirited group of musicians. The seven-piece band consists of violin, banjo, harmonica, upright bass, guitar, percussion, and the occasional mandolin and accordion.

November 3: The Poor People of Paris. Elsie Parker and The Poor People of Paris specialize in popular French music. Parker performs original material along with songs associated with French music legends such as Edith Piaf, Hervé Vilard, Mireille Mathieu, Jacques Brel, Vanessa Paradis, Charles Trenet, and more.

December 1: Irish Xiles. Simply put: the most energetic Irish band in St. Louis.

January 5: Dogtown Allstars. A group dedicated to vintage instrument sounds. This band was voted best R&B/Funk/Soul band in St. Louis in 2007 by the Riverfront Times Music Poll.
