St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library is proud to present Vickie Stringer and Iris and Roy Johansen as the featured authors for our book discussions and signings in July. Books for the events will be available for purchase from Left Bank Books.
Vickie Stringer will discuss her new book, Still Dirty on July 9 at 7 p.m. at the Carpenter Branch, 3309 S. Grand Ave. This novel holds continuing drama for her heroine, Red. Stringer’s books are not only realistic portrayals of the trials and tribulations of urban life, but they are also inspirational and captivating.
Vickie Stringer is the publisher of Triple Crown Publications and one of the most successful African-American book publishers both domestically and abroad. She has been featured in magazines and newspapers such as The New York Times, Newsweek, Essence, and Black Enterprise.
Iris and Roy Johansen will appear on July 17 at 7 p.m. at the Schlafly Branch, 225 N. Euclid Ave. Iris Johansen, the “queen of suspense” according to Booklist magazine, along with her son, Roy Johansen, will discuss their new book, Silent Thunder. Mother and son have produced a thrill ride of a novel about a marine architect and the secrets she finds hidden on a legendary submarine.
