Digital TV Transition Program @ Buder
St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library is proud to team-up with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to present an informational program to help patrons gear up for the upcoming conversion to all-digital television (DTV). The program, featuring speaker Patricia Chew from the FCC, will take place at the Buder Branch, 4401 Hampton Ave., on June 25 from 12:45-1:30 p.m. The event is FREE and open to the public.
The U.S. Congress has set February 17, 2009 as the final deadline for most TV broadcasting to make the transition to digital. That date will be here sooner than we think, and Patricia Chew will be on hand to answer the many questions we all have surrounding the change to DTV.
To help consumers with the DTV transition, the government established the Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Coupon Program. Every U.S. household is eligible to receive up to two coupons, worth $40 each, toward the purchase of eligible digital-to-analog converter boxes. The coupons may only be used for eligible converter boxes sold at participating consumer electronics retailers, and must be used at the time of purchase. Manufacturers estimate that digital-to-analog converter boxes will sell from $40 to $70 each.
So, join us next Wednesday and learn about the digital transition. Don’t let your television go dark after February 17, 2009.
