Summer Reading Club 2008

St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library’s Summer Reading Club is going strong and giving readers ages 2-18 throughout the city the chance to have fun and read for prizes from June 2 to August 9. Youngsters who can’t read yet can participate by having books read to them. This year’s theme for young readers is “What’s Buzzin’ at SLPL.” Meanwhile, teen readers will “Morph at SLPL.”

This summer the Library will host programs full of buggy fun by The Butterfly House, The City Museum, The Department of Conservation, The Magic House, Randa Meiser, and much more. Summer Reading Club members will enjoy storytimes, movies, game days, crafts, karaoke, and tons of other fun activities. Pick up a calendar of events when you register at your neighborhood Branch.

Readers will earn prizes along they way. When they reach their final goal they’ll be entered to win Grand Prizes including MP3 players, bicycles, digital cameras, and even a laptop computer loaded with software and a printer! Everyone who completes their reading goal also gets a chance to win tickets to a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. Readers can also tell us about their favorite book and enter a contest to pitch a ball to Fredbird at Busch Stadium.

Children should sign up at any one Library location. Complete club rules and details are available at all city Library locations.

For more information, contact your favorite Library Branch; watch the Library’s monthly newsletter, Check It Out!; or visit the Library’s website at www.slpl.org.
