Sisters Nineties
The St. Louis Public Library presents An Evening with the Sisters~Nineties Literary Group at the Schlafly Branch, 225 N. Euclid Ave., on October 11, 2007. The event runs from 7-8:30 pm. The program is FREE and open to the public. All ages are invited.
The Sisters~Nineties Literary Group offers an evening of poetry in honor of Jupiter Hammon, the first African American to be published in America. Born October 17, 1711, Jupiter Hammon is considered as one of the founders of African-American literature. Sisters~Nineties is a St. Louis-based organization that celebrates African American literature and poetry.
