Medications & Dementia Program

The St. Louis Public Library presents Medications and Dementia: A Family Education Program. The event takes place on October 5, from 1-3 p.m. at the Schlafly Branch, 225 N. Euclid Ave. Mary A. Coats, BS, MS, RN, a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Washington University Medical School will inform patients and families about the medications and treatments available for persons suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. Her presentation includes how to work with physicians to enhance medication therapy and how to reduce side effects and cost. The event is FREE and open to the public. The program is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association of St. Louis.

The Alzheimer's Association is the world leader in Alzheimer research and support. Since their founding in 1980, they have provided nearly $140 million to support research into the prevention, treatment, and eventual cure for Alzheimer's. The St. Louis Chapter serves more than 65,000 families in the 38-county service area of St. Louis metro, eastern Missouri, and western Illinois. Founded in 1981, the chapter has grown from a single support group to a multi-faceted service and health agency with offices in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Collinsville, Illinois.
