Buder Benefits From Young Contest Winner
St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library’s Buder Branch has benefited from the accomplishments of one of its young patrons. Henry Workman, a 9-year-old student at Clayton Academy and a regular Buder patron, has won the 13th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest, a nationwide competition for children. In a ceremony held at the Buder Branch on Tuesday, September 11, KETC/Channel 9 presented both Henry and the Library each with special Reading Rainbow library sets, which include 10 DVDs and books, as a part of the prize package. Additionally, Henry received a laptop computer.
Henry won the Grand Prize in the second-grade category for his story, “Henry and Grace go to the Museum.” His story was selected from among 579 entries in KETC/Channel 9’s local contest, and was then submitted to the national contest. More than 40,000 children entered from across the country.
