Author Junot Diaz @ Schlafly Branch
St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library is proud to present a book discussion and signing by Junot Díaz, author of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. The event takes place at the Schlafly Branch Library, 225 N. Euclid Ave., on Tuesday, September 18 at 7 p.m. The program is FREE and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is Díaz’s first novel. Spanning three generations and six decades, it chronicles the ill-starred quest for love by Oscar de León and the struggle of his family to escape a shape-shifting curse. The story moves from the hardscrabble neighborhoods of New Jersey to the barrios of Santo Domingo and from the fear-plagued Trujillo dictatorship to the multicultural campuses of the contemporary United States.
Junot Díaz has been published in The New Yorker (which placed him on a list of the twenty top writers for the twenty-first century), The Paris Review, and four times in The Best American Short Stories.
