Amazing Spirit Art Reception @ Schlafly

St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library is proud to present the return of the Amazing Spirit Art Reception to the Schlafly Branch, 225 N. Euclid Ave. The event, which celebrates St. Louis-area artists, takes place on Tuesday, June 12 from 6-8 p.m. The seven artists featured this year will display works in watercolors, city scenes, calligraphy, wearable art, basketry, and more. The artists will be available to answer questions and discuss their work at the reception. Light refreshments will be served. The event is FREE and open to the public.

This year’s featured artists include:

*    Veronica Green, who paints on fabric and silk. She designs and creates unique pieces that make women feel special when wearing them.

*    Laurie Harper, a St. Louis-based fiber artist whose work includes traditional and contemporary basketry, felting, creative bookbinding, and beadwork.

*    Robert Kelly, a Central West End artist who specializes in painting landscapes and flowers.

*    Dexter Silvers, who paints on location and documents history. His paintings are unique and highly photorealistic.

*    Vernon Smith, a scientifically inclined visual artist who prefers producing images of people in his drawings and paintings.

*    Weimin Xu, a distinguished Chinese artist specializing in sculpture, traditional Chinese painting, and calligraphy. His works have won many awards at regional and national exhibitions in China.

*    Jeremiah Yu received his BFA from Webster University with an emphasis in painting and illustration. He is currently a member of Art Dimensions and shows his work in the St. Louis area.
