Jaime Adoff Kicks Off “Read It Forward”
St. Louis, MO . . . The St. Louis Public Library is proud to kick off the 2007 spring edition of the popular “Read It Forward” program with a book discussion and signing for teens featuring Jaime Adoff, author of Names Will Never Hurt Me. The event takes place at the Schlafly Branch Library, 225 N. Euclid Ave., on May 9 at 6 p.m. The program is FREE and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
In Names Will Never Hurt Me, four teens reveal their deepest feelings and fears in a story of high school troubles.
To take part in “Read It Forward,” teens in grades 6-12 can pick up a FREE copy of Names Will Never Hurt Me at any St. Louis Public Library location (while supplies last). They read the book and pass it forward to a friend. Once they’ve done that, they can tell us what they think by e-mailing us at readitforward@slpl.org and register to win a Jaime Adoff Book Collection Prize Pack.
Adoff has won the Coretta Scott King, New Talent Award for Jimi & Me and a Lee Bennett Hopkins Honor for the Song Shoots Out of My Mouth.
Jaime Adoff is the son of the late Newbery Award-winning author Virginia Hamilton and poet Arnold Adoff. Before becoming a writer, he studied drums and voice at the Manhattan School of Music and fronted his own rock band.
