Creating a pair of handmade candlesticks can be a fun, family project that will add something extra to your holiday dinner table. Take those old candlesticks you found at the yard sale and transform them by covering with gold leaf or gold paint.  See how the now elegant candlesticks will glow.

Decorated picture frames make good gifts

Designing a picture frame that includes a family photograph is another holiday gift that is easy to make. Find colored marbles and glue onto a frame. Using a glue gun, attach them randomly. Or, for a special holiday celebration, select a color associated with that holiday. Then use a fancy piece of ribbon to dress up the frame.

When deciding what to create for your holiday celebrations think of using every day materials. For example, purchase a plain table setting. Then, use fabric paints to make it festive. Or, dress up the table setting by sewing co-ordinating colored fabric to it.

Getting friends and family involved with the holiday craft will make it even more enjoyable. Creating a keepsake will give you memories that can be cherished for future generations of your family.

All in all, having fun should be the goal of making holiday crafts.
