Curb appeal

Your house is not the only one on the block For Sale.

Tips for selling

Look at your home from the outside--view it from down the block or take a digital picture

Be a pretend buyer for a weekend to gain knowledge of the housing market in your area.

Go around to open houses and see what's out there.

What can you do to make it the one that sells first

Price it right

  • Find out the 'asking price' for comparable houses in your area

Add curb appeal

Increase the curb appeal

  • Add appealing outdoor lighting or plantings
  • Mow lawn.  Get rid of leaves and weeds.
  • Freshen up the home by painting or adding new visual appeal (maybe a new door)

Remove unneeded items

Make necessary repairs

  • Repair the roof
  • Install insulation
  • Upgrade electrical & plumbing

Clean the entire house

  • Organize closets
  • Remove clutter from basement and garage
  • Scrub bathrooms and kitchen

Flowers add color and aroma

Welcome buyers as you would guests

  • Add fresh plants throughout the house
  • Let the pets visit the neighbors - no one wants to be greeted by a barking dog
  • Pleasant odors - there is nothing like the aroma of fresh baked bread

Make your home the one buyers come back to see a second time.
