Studies show that Americans spend about 18% of their day on entertainment activities. For some, this time is filled with social activities and meeting new friends. For others, it is a time to be alone.
We do this online:
The hobby industry reports that in more 80% of households have at least one family member engaged in crafts or hobbies. Popular activities include gift making, home decorating, personal use, holiday decorating, and items to collect or sell.
Personal computer usage by Americans of all ages continues to grow. While some of the time online is used for work or school, many use the computer in their leisure time. People use the computer to play games, stay in contact with family and friends and find out about hobbies and other leisure activities.
Music and the arts provide recreational activities for almost 40% of American adults. For some that means participating in concerts and performances; for others it means sitting at home reading, watching, or listening to old and new favorites.
Enjoying the outdoors
The Missouri outdoors provides many opportunities for those wanting to be active in their leisure time. Camping, fishing, hiking, and other sports are a few of the most popular. Enjoyable hours are spent deciding which state park campground to visit, what gear to buy, or new sport to attempt.
No matter what type of entertainment, leisure, or recreational activities people choose, the goal is to have a good time, develop new interests, and relax.
