Experience the Immediacy Theatre Project (ITP) in action when they perform ''Drawn & Quartered," thirty-five two-minute plays performed in an order chosen by the audience. The plays, written and performed by ITP ensemble members, abandon the convention of character and directly acknowledge the audience, doing away with suspension of disbelief and prolonged fantasy. ITP has been performing 'Drawn & Quartered' since 2005, and this year’s series will be directed by Managing Director Kyle Kratky and Artistic Director Matt Heckman. Sharon Shinn will discuss and sign her new young adult novel, Gateway. This novel is about an adopted teenage girl from China who was raised in St. Louis. When Daiyu steps under the Arch-she finds herself in an alternate version of her familiar city where almost everyone is Chinese. She has been brought here by mysterious strangers to help them bring down the corrupt ruling government, but to do so, she must play a dangerous part among the elite members of this society. Very quickly she learns to trust no one except a young man named Kalen. He will help her carry out her plans and then find her way back home-but she is not so sure that, when her task is over, she’ll be able to leave Kalen behind. Sharon Shinn (born 1957) is an American novelist who combines aspects of fantasy, science fiction, and romance. She has published more than a dozen novels for adult and young adult readers.
